MAY MADNESS!!

Our Student Ambassadors are going to working very hard next month in May Madness!!
May Madness is where the Student Ambassadors will be doing many things in May, like on May 2 it's PaReNt'S
nIgHt OuT!! And we all know that parents will be happy about that. On that day the Student Ambassadors will keep Mrs. St. John's sunday school class while all the parents have a "date night". Then, on May 10, they are having the Trussville Chamber of Commerce Art Show, which the Ambassadors will help with the artists' hospitality table. After that, on May 13, It's the Choir Concert at Grace Presbyterian Church, the Student Ambassadors will greet guests and hand out programs. I hope everything goes as planned for them!!

Student ambassadors of the week are.......
Appalachian State University!

These guys have worked on this program since 1977 and it's still going strong. It was founded by Fred Robinette, along with twelve of the college students. Their responsibilities are to be the hosts and hostesses of the campus, run campus tours, and doing things with their Alumni programs. The students love doing fun ambassador programs even though there are not that many students in the program. But, they make the best of what they've got. In 1981 Mr. Robinette took the position of development officer in College of Business. In the next ten years, the Ambassador program had four different advisors (Barbara Burgin, Mark Driebelbis, Tom Lawson, and Todd Campbell). The program had little structure and loosely defined responsibilities. In 1988, the ambassador program began to emergeout of nothing into something. They had weekly meetings and the ambassador responsibilities started getting more and more harder and they began to grow. In 1989 the Appalachian Ambassadors attended their second ever District Conference in Tampa, Florida. The Ambassador program continued to grow under the advisorship of Tracey Ford. Twelve student members have grown into thirty-eight dedicated members with over thirty-three leadership roles assigned each year. The group has come a long way since 1977 and continues to stand behind their mission of supporting the Appalachian Family through a tradition of excellence. In the Fall of 1996, Ambassadors relocated their office to the John E. Thomas Building, which houses the Office of Admissions and the Visitors Center. In 1997 the Ambassadors added Home High School Visits and Chancellor-For-A-Day to its list of activities. In 2002, the Ambassadors celebrated twenty-five years of dedicated service to the University Community. The group has come a long way since 1977 and continues to stand behind their mission of supporting the Appalachian Family through a tradition of excellence.

We recently had our 3rd Annual Charity Basketball game last Friday after school. The student ambassadors were selling tickets, concession, and even raffle tickets.

They recently gave money to a needy family and went and bought toys, food, and just items that were needed for that family around Christmas time.
